The curriculum in Year 3 is designed to provide a broad and balanced education that meets the needs of all children. Staff in Year 3 provide opportunities for children to develop as independent, motivated, curious and successful learners, with high aspirations, who know how to make a positive contribution to their community and the wider society.
We value our pupils’ contributions to the curriculum. Pupil voice matters and is encouraged.
We plan and deliver a thematic approach covering all areas of the Curriculum for Wales. Our themes aim to motivate, promote independence and develop curiosity. The 4 purposes are at the heart of our curriculum. We want your children to be;
ambitious, capable learners ready to learn throughout their lives
enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work
ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world
healthy, confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
It is important that our pupils are digitally competent across the curriculum. Digital devices are widely utilised, and children are encouraged to use this platform as a means of enhancing their learning.
Year 3 teaching and learning celebrates the diversity and utilises the skills, knowledge and cultural wealth of the community while supporting the children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, ensuring that children are well prepared for life in our world.
